Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Certified Special Education teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in curriculum development, classroom management, and working with students with diverse learning needs. This role involves designing and implementing individualized lesson plans, utilizing learning technology, and fostering an inclusive environment that promotes academic growth and social-emotional development for students with disabilities. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' lives through innovative teaching strategies and personalized support.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tailored curricula that meet the unique needs of students with disabilities, including literacy education, math, physical education, and early childhood development.
  • Utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other learning technology tools to enhance instructional delivery and student engagement.
  • Design engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards and individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Manage classroom environments effectively, ensuring safety, positive behavior, and inclusive participation.
  • Incorporate behavior management techniques to support social-emotional learning and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and specialists to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain detailed records of student performance and communicate regularly with stakeholders regarding academic and behavioral development.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to special education, learning technology, instructional design, and childhood development.
  • Strong command of the written and oral language.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholder; classroom teacher(s), parents, and other service providers.

Experience

  • Proven classroom experience working with children in special education settings or related environments such as private schools or childcare centers.
  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional design tailored for students with disabilities.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including early childhood education, preschoolers, toddlers, or students requiring behavioral or literacy support.
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms, learning technology tools, and modern teaching methodologies such as Montessori or inclusive classroom management techniques.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, colleagues, and specialists.
  • Prior experience tutoring or providing academic advising in educational settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of conflict management strategies and behavior management techniques suitable for children with special needs. This position is ideal for educators passionate about fostering inclusive learning environments that support all learners' growth and success.

  • Valid New York State Special Education Certification
