Job Description
Join our award-winning Parks Recreation and Cultural Arts team as a part-time lifeguard. We need your energy and positive attitude to provide high-quality customer service at the Kettering Recreation Complex. This position is responsible for the prevention of accidents and incidents in the water and the surrounding area through proper scanning and rule enforcement. This position is directly responsible for leading patrons and has an active role in Emergency Action Plans. Examples of Duties (Illustrative Only):
• Maintains an alert attitude and posture at all times;
• Maintains a professional image and remains mentally physically and emotionally prepared to do the job at all times;
• Maintains patron safety through preventative lifeguarding and provides emergency first aid when necessary;
• Enforces pool rules consistently and courteously;
• Provides accurate information to patrons;
• Follows Emergency Action Plan and has the ability to adjust to the situation;
• Reports all accidents rescues and incidents and has a thorough knowledge of Emergency Action Plans;
• Responsible for the protection and care of pool property and equipment;
• Regular and predictable on-site attendance required;
• Must be able to work well with staff and the public;
• Carries out additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: The ideal candidate must be at least 15 years of age and hold current Lifeguard Training certification that includes CPR/AED and First Aid. Candidates must possess water safety customer-service and conflict resolution skills as well as demonstrate maturity and good decision making. Interested applicants that do not currently possess a valid Lifeguard certification may still be considered for employment contingent upon completion of certification course. Compensation: Pay range is $12.15 to $13.80 per hour. Entry rate is contingent upon candidate's related skills knowledge and abilities.
