Judo / Martial Arts Instructor – Youth Development Program (Part-Time)

Location: New York City (School-Based Sites)
Program: I WILL GRADUATE Youth Development Program

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic, energetic, and passionate Judo/Martial Arts Instructor to lead engaging classes for middle school and high school students in NYC. The ideal candidate brings strong technique, excellent youth engagement skills, and a commitment to teaching discipline, confidence, respect, and physical fitness through martial arts.

This role begins in two weeks, and training will be provided immediately upon hire.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach structured and age-appropriate judo/martial arts classes that build skills, discipline, and confidence.
• Create engaging lesson plans including warmups, drills, fitness activities, and technique demonstrations.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment at all times.
• Enforce dojo safety, proper technique, and appropriate behavior on the mat.
• Monitor student progress and provide consistent feedback and guidance.
• Take attendance daily and maintain accurate class records.
• Collaborate with school faculty and I WILL GRADUATE staff to support student development and program goals.

Qualifications

• Strong background in judo or martial arts, with the ability to teach beginners through intermediate-level students.
• Experience working with K–12 youth in educational, athletic, or enrichment settings.
• Must be responsible, reliable, energetic, and punctual.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Currently enrolled in a College/Institute or a graduate.
• Must pass the NYC Department of Education fingerprinting & background check.
• Degree or major in Education, Physical Education, Sports Science, Child Development, or a related field is a plus.
