Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our vibrant dental practice. This role combines front desk administrative support with clinical assistance, ensuring a seamless patient experience from appointment scheduling to post-treatment care. Duties

  • Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify insurance coverage, and assist with patient intake and registration processes.
  • Schedule appointments efficiently using dental office management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, while managing multiple-line phone systems with professionalism.
  • Verify insurance benefits, perform insurance verifications, and handle billing processes including medical collection and coding using CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist the dental team during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and providing chairside support with dental terminology and clinical protocols.
  • Manage electronic health records (EHR systems) like Meditech or eClinicalWorks, ensuring accurate documentation review and data entry for medical and dental records.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as filing, maintaining medical records, processing payments, and managing office supplies to support smooth clinic operations.
  • Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette while scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and providing outstanding customer service to foster positive patient relationships.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a dental clinic or medical office environment is highly preferred; clinic experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or Dentrix is essential; familiarity with Eaglesoft is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), HIPAA compliance, and health information management practices.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10 key), and familiarity with multi-line phone systems.
  • Bilingual abilities are desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and medical billing accuracy.
  • Outstanding communication skills paired with professional phone etiquette; ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
