We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Dietary Director to lead our dietary department within a healthcare or assisted living facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong management skills, expertise in nutrition and dietetics, and a passion for improving patient care through effective dietary management. This leadership role involves overseeing meal planning, ensuring compliance with health standards, and coordinating with healthcare teams to support residents' nutritional needs. The Dietary Director will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by implementing personalized care plans and maintaining high standards of dietary services.
Duties
- Develop and oversee comprehensive dietary programs tailored to residents' health conditions, including tube feeding and diagnostic evaluation as needed.
- Supervise and train dietary staff, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct patient assessments to determine individual nutritional needs and create personalized care plans.
- Manage the dietary department's budget, inventory, and procurement processes efficiently.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to integrate nutrition strategies into overall care plans.
- Monitor food safety, sanitation, and compliance with health regulations at all times.
- Provide health coaching to residents and staff on proper nutrition, hydration, and lifestyle choices.
- Oversee the preparation of meals that meet dietary specifications while accommodating special diets such as tube feeding or other medical requirements.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of dietary interventions through ongoing assessment and adjustment of care plans.
- Lead efforts to improve departmental performance through continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dietary management within assisted living or healthcare settings.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, nutrition, dietetics, and care planning related to elderly or chronically ill populations.
- Supervising experience with a track record of effective team leadership and staff development.
- Familiarity with patient assessment techniques and the creation of individualized care plans.
- Experience managing budgets and resource allocation within a dietary department.
- Knowledge of tube feeding procedures, diagnostic evaluation processes, and health coaching principles.
- Excellent management skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams effectively.
- Relevant certifications or licensure in dietetics or nutrition are highly preferred.
