SUMMARY

The Senior Financial Analyst partners with stakeholders across departments to develop and analyze budgets, conduct variance analyses, and forecast financial performance as the business evolves. Through both monthly and ad-hoc reporting, this role delivers strategic insights that enable data-driven decision-making and support the organization's financial goals.

KEY OUTCOMES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Outcome:
Support Butler/Till, Inc.'s annual financial objectives by ensuring business owners execute against budgeted plans, monitor actual performance, and gain approval for projects. Serve as a strategic partner by providing financial guidance, insights, and actionable recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the annual budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes, including preparation of key analyses and schedules.
  • Establish and maintain a regular cadence of budget review meetings, presenting information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Prepare monthly variance analyses with commentary to explain results versus budget and forecast.
  • Identify and communicate risks and opportunities impacting financial targets.
  • Collaborate with budget owners to develop solutions and manage tradeoffs.
  • Translate forecasted changes and decisions into financial statement impacts.
  • Build and maintain complex financial models to inform strategic initiatives and budgeting.

Key Outcome:
Provide leadership with meaningful financial analysis that highlights performance status, forecasts, risks, and opportunities. Identify key trends and deliver actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Synthesize complex data into top-down financial models that highlight key conclusions and recommended actions, with attention to both analysis and presentation quality.
  • Identify and escalate significant opportunities, risks, and trade-offs impacting performance.
  • Design, implement, and maintain dashboards and KPI reporting to monitor business performance.
  • Serve as a central point of contact for financial information across the organization.
  • Translate financial needs and requests into clear, concise, and insightful analyses.
  • Manage the financial reporting schedule to ensure timely, accurate deliverables.

Key Outcome:
Enhance information flow and clarity through process improvements and technology efficiencies. Continuously challenge legacy practices, identify gaps, and recommend more effective ways of working.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify areas where FP&A or internal stakeholders experience inefficiencies—such as outdated templates or unclear reports—and recommend improvements.
  • Gather and accurately translate stakeholder requirements into process or system enhancements.
  • Drive process improvement and automation initiatives that increase accuracy, consistency, and scalability.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

  • 4-6+ years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong business acumen with a thorough understanding of accounting principles and financial procedures.
  • Proven expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including complex formulas, functions, and data analysis tools.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

PREFERRED

  • MBA or CPA, with a mix of public and private sector experience.
  • Experience designing or maintaining interactive dashboards in Power BI (or similar visualization platforms).
  • Experience with Datarails, NetSuite.
