Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description: Mechanic

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary:

1. Repair and maintain machinery and equipment in accordance with diagrams, operational manuals and manufacturing specifications
2. Direct mechanic helpers engaged in repairing and maintaining parts of machinery and equipment
3. Diagnose malfunctions in equipment and machinery based on observation of machinery and applying knowledge from past experience.
4. Follow operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions and engineering specifications
5. Perform preventive maintenance functions as directed
6. Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment, and especially must be able to interface and communicate with line operators in order to assist with repairs and troubleshooting
7. Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown in line with OSHA requirements.
8. Informs appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.
9. Interpret specifications, blueprints and job orders to workers
10. Anticipate potential problem areas and delegate course of action to be taken
11. Know where emergency STOP, and START/STOP buttons are located
12. Responsible for following all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures for machine when necessary
13. Must be safety conscious
14. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
15. Complete a Food Safety Incident Report if an incident occurs
16. Follow all company GMP procedures.
17. Support without hesitation General Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes and are Priority #1.
18. Willing to work any shift and overtime as required
19.  Perform all special requests by Lead Mechanic/Maintenance Supervisor/ Maintenance Manager

Physical Demands:

Work requires some physical strain such as long periods of standing, bending, climbing, and lifting overhead.

Work Environment:

Working around power equipment, slippery floors and dusty areas.  Very hot conditions in some areas during summer seasons. Protective clothing such as uniform, slip resistant shoes, gloves, and safety glasses may be required.

• Minimum of 3 yrs experience
• Must have the ability to interpret specifications, blueprints and job orders
• Must be able to use hand and power tools
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
