Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in acute and primary care, with experience in hospital and outpatient settings. As a Physician Assistant, you will deliver comprehensive patient care, perform clinical assessments, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal health outcomes across diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough physical examinations, obtain patient histories, and perform diagnostic evaluations to determine appropriate treatment plans.
- Manage acute pain, perform triage assessments, and provide urgent care services within various clinical settings.
- Administer injections, including botulinum toxin treatments, and assist with procedures such as suturing and catheterization.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for documentation, data collection, and medical records management.
- Support hospital-based care including ICU, neonatal ventilator management, ventilator support, and Level I & II trauma center protocols.
- Participate in clinical research trials and contribute to data collection efforts to advance evidence-based practices.
- Educate patients on health coaching topics such as medication administration, nutrition, family planning, and chronic disease management.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, infection control measures, and post-acute care strategies.
Qualifications
- Valid Physician Assistant license with current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Proven experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or critical care environments; Level I & II trauma center experience preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; telehealth experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and medical billing practices.
- Experience administering injections (including botulinum toxin), performing suturing procedures, and utilizing aseptic techniques.
- Familiarity with ICU ventilator management, airway management techniques, and cardiac catheterization procedures.
- Ability to handle complex patient assessments across diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, neonatal intensive care (PICU), hospice & palliative medicine.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
