We are seeking a diligent and organized Receiving Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Receiving Clerk will be responsible for the efficient and accurate unloading, inspection, and logging of incoming shipments. This role is crucial to ensuring our warehouse operations run smoothly, from the moment goods arrive until they are properly stored. You will be the first point of contact for many deliveries, so a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy are essential. The ideal candidate will have experience in a warehouse environment and a strong understanding of inventory management principles.
Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming freight from trucks using appropriate equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts - certification may be required).
- Inspect all incoming goods for damage, shortages, or discrepancies against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Accurately record received goods into the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Communicate any discrepancies or issues to supervisors and vendors promptly.
- Tag and label received items for proper storage.
- Maintain a clean and organized receiving area, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Adhere to strict safety guidelines, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist with inventory counts and stock checks as needed.
- Provide support to other warehouse departments when required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience in a warehouse or receiving role preferred. Familiarity with WMS software is a plus. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. A commitment to workplace safety and the proper use of PPE. Understanding of basic logistics principles is beneficial. Must be reliable and punctual. This position involves frequent standing, walking, and some manual dexterity.
