Description

If you are an experienced forestry professional with a passion for sustainability, safety, and leadership, we want you to join our team as a Forestry Supervisor. You will play a crucial role in overseeing timber development activities, from strategic planning and contractor supervision to environmental leadership. As a Forestry Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing timber development activities, from strategic planning and contractor management, and field execution. This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who has previously performed these functions and can confidently guide operations while ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship. Duties:

  • Drive Compliance: Ensure full compliance of Occupational Health and Safety standards, applicable legislation, and Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) requirements.
  • Supervise Operations: Oversee multi-phase contracts, including layout, cruising, ecology, archaeology, and stream classification.
  • Manage Contractors: Provide clear direction and oversight for contractors, with a focus on safety performance, environmental standards, quality of work, and accountability.
  • Ensure Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all planning and permitting data.
  • Permitting & Authorizations: Manage all aspects of cutting permit and road permit development, submission, and approvals.
  • Appraisal & Stumpage: Conduct appraisal analyses and implement best management practices for stumpage.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, government agencies, and stakeholders to ensure successful planning and operational outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A University Degree or Technical Diploma in Forestry or a related field, and be an RPF, RFT, or eligible for registration with the Forest Professionals of British Columbia.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in forestry, including Planning, Permitting, Appraisal, and contractor supervision.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills. Ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with BC forestry legislation, policies, and technologies.
  • Passion: A strong work ethic and love for the outdoors.
