The line Cook is responsible for assisting the kitchen team to prepare food items in line with the menu and daily features. Essential qualifications for this position are basic cooking skills, safety regulations knowledge, customer service, time management, and the ability to stand for long hours. Provide amazing hospitality to guests and coworkers as prescribed in our RESPECT Service System. Reports to work on time and for all scheduled shifts, clocking in and out appropriately, in conjunction with managing personal break time appropriately. Understands all policies and procedures relating to the crew's role within the company. Maintains uniform in conjunction with a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance in compliance with appearance standards. Primarily responsible for following proper safe food handling and sanitation procedures while producing menu items timely in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. May be additionally responsible for assisting with guest facing beverage service. Clean, peel, cut, chop and cook a variety of meats, fish, vegetables and starches. Prepares menu items for baking, roasting, grilling, frying, and sautéing. Crew will portion food products prior to cooking in accordance with standard portion sizes and recipe specifications. Will follow recipes, portion control, and presentation specifications as set by management. Ability to prepare all food from raw to finished state, manage rotation of stock, verify received orders, and properly label & store prepared product. Follows recipes, portion control, and presentation specification as set by management. Restocks all items as needed in freezer, line fridge, production stations while maintaining a clean kitchen by way of practicing good safety and sanitation skills. Responsible for the maintenance and cleaning in the respective sections including but not limited to food preparation equipment, work areas, dish sink, counters or tables and any other food & beverage areas as directed by management. Operate dish machine; ensures all dishes are cleaned, dried, organized, and stored appropriately. Ensure that dishwasher is in proper working order; responsible for routine cleaning of equipment and refilling chemicals as needed. Stock supplies such as food and utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and buffets or food stations. Test and document dish machine temperature and PH sanitizer daily. Exhibits a team approach, willing attitude, and a positive mindset towards assisting fellow co-workers during peak volume times to ensure, group tour, drivers, crew and all guests are serviced as set out by management team. Works with a safety mindset by following all safety policies, procedures and safety measures (i.e. PPE). Identifies and brings forward risks, hazards, and opportunities on the job. Actively participates in health and safety in the workplace. Greets guests in a professional, friendly, and approachable manner. Accepts training and guidance on a continuous basis. Passes along best practices and techniques to fellow crew members. Any other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor on duty.
Requirements & Qualifications:
O.S.S.D. or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education. One (1) year of kitchen experience preferred. Hospitality or Culinary schooling is considered an asset. Food Handlers Certificate is required. Smart Service Certification an asset. Basic mathematical skills. Energetic, enthusiastic, and self-directed personality is essential. Will be closely supervised; accepts all training and guidance on a continuous basis. Passes along best practices and techniques to fellow crew members. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of another language in addition to English is an asset. Must be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to guests and coworkers. Must possess a service orientation – actively looking for ways to help others. The nature of the work may be strenuous, and the work environment may be warm. Will work for extended periods of time without sitting. Required to lift furniture and other heavy items such as tables and chairs, up and down stairs. Ability to work flexible hours and shifts which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Will be required to be available for work on all weekends during July & August including major holidays. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull, move or lift up to 35 pounds (16 kilograms). Non-slip footwear is required to ensure safety in the workplace. Crew members must wear appropriate non-slip shoes during shifts. If required, wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. non-slip shoes, gloves, weather appropriate dress attire, sun protection).
