What You’ll Be Doing:As a Trials & Commissioning Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the electrical systems of our marine vessels operate flawlessly. Your responsibilities will include:
- Setting to Work: Engage with electrical marine systems across the entire ship platform, including Power and Propulsion, HVAC, Fixed Fire Fighting, and more.
- Safety First: Act as an Electrical Authorised Person, overseeing safe systems of work for ship electrical systems, including isolations and permits.
- Audits & Inspections: Conduct thorough audits and inspections of electrical systems, collaborating with Operations and Design teams for seamless handover to Commissioning.
- Documentation: Write essential technical documents to support trials, including test forms, risk assessments, and minor trials documentation.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with equipment manufacturers, clients, and acceptance bodies to demonstrate successful acceptance of ship systems.
- Troubleshooting: Analyze technical drawings and manuals to diagnose issues, working closely with design teams to find solutions.
- Defining Scope: Clearly outline the handover requirements for electrical systems to align with overall program needs.
Essential:
- Experience in Marine Engineering or a comparable industry.
- Strong technical understanding of electrical systems operation and design.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and mentor in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Capability to obtain a Seafarers Medical Certificate.
- Relevant commissioning or marine experience.
We encourage engineers at all levels to hold an academic qualification in Engineering or related STEM subjects, and to pursue recognition as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through a professional institution. Support for achieving relevant accreditation will be provided.
Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

The Commissioning Engineering Team:Join a dynamic, growing team where you will report directly to the Senior Commissioning Team Lead. Collaborate with global stakeholders and participate in crucial Equipment Acceptance events within the Type 26 programme.
