Diesel Automotive Mechanic – Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Automotive Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel‑powered vehicles to ensure safe, efficient, and dependable operation. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and experienced with diesel engines, electrical systems, and general vehicle maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel engines and related systems
• Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, filters, brakes, and inspections
• Repair or replace defective parts such as injectors, turbochargers, pumps, and sensors
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical and electrical issues
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation
• Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards
• Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors about repair needs and timelines

Requirements

• Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy‑duty technician
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulics
• Ability to read technical manuals and diagnostic reports
• Valid driver's license (CDL a plus but not required)
• Own basic tools (shop tools provided for major repairs)
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE or manufacturer certifications
• Experience with fleet maintenance, trucks, or heavy equipment
• Welding or fabrication skills
