Job Summary
Thrive Ortho & Spine is a rapidly growing medical practice with 7 locations in Gainesville, Decatur, College Park, Sandy Springs, Lilburn, Smyrna, and Tucker. Thrive Ortho & Spine is seeking an Interventional Pain Physician to join our multidisciplinary orthopaedic and spine practice with an on-site ambulatory surgery center. The physician will provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and interventional treatment of spine and musculoskeletal pain. The physician will perform fluoroscopy- and ultrasound-guided procedures, including epidural steroid injections, facet and sacroiliac joint injections, nerve blocks, and radiofrequency ablation, the ability to perform advanced minimally invasive spine procedures at our new ASC, and develop multimodal care plans with other providers and physical therapists to restore function and improve quality of life of our patients. This is a 100% outpatient position with no call expectations. Thrive prides itself on being one of the first non-narcotic interventional pain management practices in the state of Georgia.

This opportunity is ideal for a physician looking to combine procedural efficiency, great work-life balance, and long-term financial upside including a pathway to ASC ownership.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with acute spine and musculoskeletal pain, including detailed histories, physical exams, and review of imaging and diagnostic studies.
- Formulate differential diagnoses and develop individualized, evidence-based interventional pain management plans.
- Perform fluoroscopy- and ultrasound-guided procedures, including but not limited to epidural steroid injections, facet and sacroiliac joint injections, medial branch blocks, selective nerve blocks, and radiofrequency ablation.
- Interpret relevant imaging and diagnostics to guide procedural planning and ongoing care.
- Monitor patient responses to interventions, adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated, and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Collaborate closely with other physicians, physical therapists, advanced practice providers, and other team members to coordinate comprehensive, goal-oriented care plans.
- Participate in case discussions and care conferences to align interventional strategies with surgical and rehabilitative treatment plans.
- Provide consultative input on pain management strategies for patients referred from within the practice and external providers.
- Utilize multimodal pain management strategies that prioritize functional improvement and non-narcotic care.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, infection control standards, and ASC policies for pre-, intra-, and post-procedure care.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough documentation of patient encounters, procedures, consents, and treatment plans in the electronic health record.
- Ensuring coding and billing practices accurately reflect services rendered and comply with payer and regulatory guidelines.
- Follow all relevant state, federal, and payer regulations related to pain management, controlled substances, and ambulatory surgery center operations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, outcomes tracking, and patient safety projects related to interventional pain services.
- Support the development and refinement of clinical protocols, care pathways, and ASC workflows for interventional pain procedures.
- Engage in continuing medical education and maintain board certification and licensure in good standing.
Qualification, Experience, and Skills:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurology, or equivalent relevant specialty.
- Completion of a fellowship in Interventional Pain Management or Pain Medicine preferred but not required.
- Board certification or board eligibility in the primary specialty and board certification or eligibility in Pain Medicine within 2 years of hire.
- Unrestricted medical license in the state of Georgia, with current DEA registration.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Prior experience performing fluoroscopy- and ultrasound-guided spine and musculoskeletal interventional procedures.
- Experience working in an outpatient interventional pain, orthopaedic, spine, or PM&R setting, preferably within a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with ASC workflows, pre-op evaluation, moderate sedation, and post-procedure care.
- Experience using electronic health records for documentation, ordering, and e-prescribing.
- Proficiency in a full spectrum of interventional pain procedures appropriat3e to an ortho/spine practice and ASC environment.
- Strong diagnostic skills in spine and musculoskeletal disorders, including interpretation of MRI, CT, and relevant imaging to guide interventions.
- Competence in multimodal pain management, including non-narcotic pharmacologic options, interventional therapies, and coordination with physical therapy.
- Ability to develop individualized, goal-directed treatment plans focused on function and quality of life.
- Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and a diverse clinical team.
- Strong commitment to patient-centered care, service excellence, and compassionate bedside manner.
- Collaborative mindset with willingness to participate in multidisciplinary conferences, care coordination, and practice growth initiatives.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and adherence to ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
- Organizational skills to manage a busy outpatient schedule efficiently while maintaining thorough, timely documentation.

- Comfort with data-driven practice, basic outcomes tracking, and use of technology to optimize clinic and ASC efficiency.
Physical Job Demands and Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during clinic and procedure sessions (often several hours per day).
- Ability to sit for portions of the day for documentation, review of imaging, and patient counseling.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light to moderate loads (e.g., procedure trays, small equipment) and occasionally assist with patient positioning or transfers, typically up to about 25-30 lbs using proper body techniques.
- Sufficient manual dexterity and fine motor skills to perform injections and other minimally invasive procedures safely and precisely.
- Adequate vision to read imaging, monitors, and medical records, and to perform image-guided procedures under fluoroscopy or ultrasound.
- Adequate hearing and speech to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff in a clinical and procedural environment.
- Ability to work in an ASC procedural environment with exposure to radiation, disinfectants, and other clinical materials, using appropriate PPE and safety precautions.
- Ability to maintain concentration and sustained attention during procedures and complex clinical decision-making.
- Ability to perform occasional bending, reaching, and twisting associated with patient exams and positioning for procedures.
