Job Description
WorkingVet is seeking to fill an AWS Senior Engineer position in support of VA (Veterans Affairs) Cloud Operations and Migration Services (COMS) capability to provide operational input and support for the operations, maintenance, and refinement of VA's Enterprise Cloud (VAEC) environment, execution support for migrating new and legacy VA applications and services to cloud computing and continuous improvement of VA's IT infrastructure. The candidate will support our VA clients in their cloud operations to enhance, optimize, and maintain their computing capabilities across their technical landscape. This includes working with Cloud Architects when interviewing clients to understand application and infrastructure current state. Working with Cloud Architects leading client working sessions to identify, categorize, prioritize and analyze data and information to work into cloud migration action plans. Working with larger project teams to migrate legacy applications to their cloud platform. The AWS Senior Engineer must have expertise with Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) Amazon Web Services (AWS), exposure to Microsoft Azure is desirable.
As an AWS Senior Engineer, you will design, develop and determine the best solutions for unique application client requests. As a part of our vision and innovation the Cloud Services team will help our VA client adopt Cloud native solutions. This key role will work with business stakeholders and senior leaders to deliver on complex, enterprise-level initiatives that are a part of the VA client's overall strategic direction. To be successful in this role the candidate must have deep knowledge of and experience with AWS technologies (ideally AWS GovCloud) and align technology solutions to specific business objectives and have experience working with mid-size teams.
Key responsibilities:
· Attend and contribute to all Provisioning meetings, working sessions, analysis meetings as part of the ECSO Cloud Deployment and Operations Model (CDOM) Intake and Provisioning Phases
· Utilize automation tools such as Jenkins, Git, CloudFormation, Terraform or similar to Provision VAEC application environments
· Mentor more junior level members of the team
· Assist with troubleshooting Service Now requests where complex or unique solutions are needed
· Assist with AWS concepts for new technologies as per request by ECSO leadership
· Attend daily standup meetings and work Service Now requests assigned
· Work with business stakeholders and senior leaders to deliver on complex, enterprise-level initiatives that are a part of the VA client's overall strategic direction
· Assist Cloud Architects to provide operations and migration services that enable VA to tailor the availability and delivery of cloud computing services based on business and technical requirements
· Utilize the AWS Console and tools, VA Enterprise Cloud Operational Tools (VAECOT), and/or other VA TRM-approved tools necessary to provide operations and migration support
Must Have Qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline OR AWS/Azure Certification (AWS Professional / Specialty Cert. OR Azure Expert / Advanced Cert.) OR 4 years of relevant experience in one of the Amazon Web Services (AWS).
· Minimum of six (6) years setting up, configuring and using AWS cloud operational tools to ensure service level agreements and performance targets are met, and continued compliance with policies, standards and guidelines.
· 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
· A Senior Cloud Engineer has experience designing, implementing, migrating, managing, and operating systems/applications in an enterprise cloud computing environment
· Subject matter expertise with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and familiarity with Microsoft Azure
· Able to pass a background check to obtain a Public Trust (High-Risk) Position
· Must be a U.S. citizen

Preferred Qualifications (soft skills, preferred, nice to have)
· Previous Federal Government experience preferably at VA
- Experience with VA's configuration of Service Now and Jira Toolset for management, configuration and reporting of work products.
- Experience working in a CMMI-DEV or CMMI-SVC environment at Maturity Level 3 or above
- One or more Microsoft or Amazon cloud certifications
- ITIL certification or experience with ITIL
- Active clearance for Public Trust (High-Risk) Position
· Experience with tools such as Terraform, Jenkins, Git, CloudFormation, AWS CLI, Azure PowerShell, or similar
· Experience with EKS
· , ECS setup, configuration and support
· Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills
· Experience writing technical documentation, especially in relation to Cloud architecture
· Minimum of four (4) years of engineering experience in AWS environments. Experience includes:
o Setting up, configuring and maintaining:
· AWS Virtual Private Cloud instances
· AWS VPC subnets instances
· Security Groups (Ingress / Egress)
· Route Tables
· Network Access Control Lists
· Transit Gateways
· IAM Users / Roles
· Organizations
· AD Security Groups
o Understanding CIDR ranges and allocation to VPCs and Subnets
o IAM Access Analyzer
o Cloud Trail
o EC2 Security and Default Permissions
o AMIs / Images
o Recommend changes in methods or procedures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $140, $160,000.00 per year
