The Club at Las Campanas offers an extraordinary setting to enjoy an ideal life in Santa Fe. Position Summary

The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for all aspects of golf course maintenance, turf management, irrigation systems, equipment operations, and staff leadership. This role works closely with the Director of Agronomy to execute agronomic plans, manage budgets, and ensure championship-quality course conditions while maintaining safety, efficiency, and environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily golf course maintenance and turf management operations
  • Maintain superior playing conditions for greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and landscaped areas
  • Plan and supervise all fertilization, chemical applications, irrigation, and drainage systems
  • Manage, train, schedule, and evaluate golf course maintenance staff
  • Lead equipment maintenance operations and oversee the equipment repair shop
  • Develop and execute annual agronomic plans and assist with departmental budgeting
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including pesticide use
  • Maintain accurate records for personnel, maintenance activities, and chemical applications
  • Track departmental benchmarks and operational performance metrics
  • Implement and enforce comprehensive safety programs for staff, members, and guests
  • Communicate effectively with Club leadership, members, vendors, and internal departments
  • Serve as a visible leader on the golf course, setting the standard for professionalism and work ethic
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of golf course maintenance experience
  • Degree or certificate in Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, or a related field
  • Active member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA)
  • Qualified Applicator's Pesticide License (New Mexico) or ability to obtain promptly
Preferred Skills & Attributes
  • Proven leadership and staff management experience
  • Strong knowledge of turfgrass, irrigation systems, and golf course agronomy
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and results-driven
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Strong communication skills; English proficiency preferred
Work Environment & Schedule
  • Full-time role requiring more than 40 hours per week
  • Weekend and holiday availability required
  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and sun
  • Fast-paced, high-expectation private club environment
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to move continuously across the golf course
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on uneven terrain
  • Ability to bend, stoop, balance, and work outdoors for extended periods
Leadership & Team Structure
  • Reports To: General Manager, Director of Agronomy
  • Leads: Assistant Superintendents, Foremen, Irrigation Technicians, Mechanics, Equipment Operators, Greenskeepers, and Interns
