Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Assurance (QA) and Food Safety Specialist to support and strengthen the company's quality and food safety programs. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with all regulatory, customer, and internal standards by monitoring and maintaining the food safety system, implementing and improving quality processes, and conducting thorough quality inspections. Approximately 75% of the position is focused on quality assurance and 25% on supporting the food safety program. The ideal candidate will contribute to a dynamic team dedicated to excellence in food safety and product quality, driving continuous improvement across all departments while utilizing quality management systems and measurement tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections – Regularly inspect produce and production to ensure compliance with health and food safety regulations
  • Assist Food Safety Director to develop, implement, and maintain Food Safety and Quality programs including HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and FSMA compliance
  • Monitor and maintain records for temperature, sanitation, pest control, and other verification activities.
  • Support preparation for third‐party, customer, and regulatory audits; assist with corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Review and verify production, sanitation, and receiving documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Investigate quality and food safety issues, assist with root cause analysis, and ensure timely resolution.
  • Participate in product hold/release decisions and verify corrective actions are implemented effectively.
  • Monitor sensitive items to ensure proper rotation of product
  • Maintain logs and ensure monitoring devices are properly verified.
  • Strong communication skills needed to collaborate with Operations, Sales, Production and Sanitation.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Food Safety within food manufacturing, processing, or distribution (produce experience a plus).
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, FSMA, and regulatory food safety programs.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of Produce Pro a plus
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Able to work Sundays as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in refrigerated environments (35–40°F).
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for long periods.
  • Lift up to 40 lbs as needed.
  • Work in cold warehouse and production areas as required.
  • Fork lift certification preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65, $70,000.00 per year
