Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fleet Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment, including trucks, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery. This role requires a strong mechanical background, proficiency with diagnostic tools, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Fleet Mechanic will ensure all equipment operates safely and reliably to support our operational needs.

Duties

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, diagnostic tools, and hands-on troubleshooting techniques.
  • Repair and replace components such as transmissions, brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, shocks & struts, and air brakes.
  • Conduct welding, fabrication, and assembly tasks as needed for repairs or modifications.
  • Operate power tools and hand tools to complete repairs efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts used.
  • Assist with tire service, wheel alignments, HVAC systems, electrical diagnostics, and soldering tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards during all repair activities.
  • Support the repair of industrial equipment including tractors, service trucks, and other machinery.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex issues involving schematics or heavy equipment operation.

Requirements

  • Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment operation and automotive repair.
  • Dealership experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, HVAC systems, suspension systems, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read schematics and technical manuals effectively.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques.
  • Experience working with Caterpillar machinery or similar heavy-duty equipment is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of farm machinery and industrial equipment is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in diagnostics and repairs.
  • Ability to lift heavy components safely and perform physical tasks requiring heavy lifting regularly.
  • Strong customer service skills for interacting with internal teams or external clients when necessary.
  • Valid certification or licensing related to vehicle maintenance or heavy equipment repair is preferred but not mandatory. This role offers an opportunity for a dedicated mechanic to work on diverse machinery in a dynamic environment while honing their technical skills across multiple disciplines within fleet maintenance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $33.18 per hour
