Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of schematics and PCB layouts for automotive control units in optomechanical and lighting systems.
- Apply expertise in LEDs, LED drivers, LDOs, DC/DC converters, PMICs, high-speed communication interfaces, and automotive SoCs throughout the design and development lifecycle.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant automotive standards and specifications, including ISO 26262, AEC-Q100, and communication protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and specifications for control units and optomechanical systems.
- Conduct design reviews and provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to secure high-quality components and ensure smooth production readiness.
- Develop and implement test strategies and validation plans, covering environmental, functional, end-of-line, and EMC/EMI testing.
- Diagnose, analyze, and resolve electrical issues, driving continuous improvement in system performance and reliability.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 8 years of experience in body electronics, lighting, and/or infotainment systems.
- Strong proficiency in electrical schematics, PCB, and FPC design principles.
- Hands-on experience with design tools such as Altium Designer or Cadence Allegro.
- Deep technical understanding of LEDs, LED drivers, LDOs, DC/DC converters, PMICs, automotive SoCs, high-speed communication, and micro-display technologies.
- Solid knowledge of automotive standards, including ISO 26262 and AEC-Q100.
- Experience with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
- Proven ability to develop comprehensive test plans and perform validation testing for electrical components and systems.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external partners.
Preferred / Advantageous Skills:
- Experience in designing optomechanical systems for automotive applications.
- Familiarity with optical design principles, including light distribution, beam pattern formation, and polarization.
- Knowledge of advanced automotive lighting technologies such as Adaptive Front Lighting Systems (AFS) and Matrix LED systems.
- Understanding of thermal management techniques used in lighting and electronic systems.
- Experience applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) methodologies.
- Working knowledge of automotive safety standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with FPD-Link technologies, including serializers and deserializers (SerDes) for display and imaging interfaces.
