*Role Overview*
We are seeking a skilled and passionate *Fabric Data Engineer* *Consultant*. You will be working with an ambitious company to design, build, and maintain scalable analytics and data engineering solutions for external clients. You will enable advanced data processing, data engineering, analytics, reporting, and AI use cases by leveraging the full Microsoft Fabric suite, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, SQL Database, Data Factory, and Power BI. You will collaborate with stakeholders to deliver end-to-end projects involving medallion architecture data processing framework installations.
*Key Responsibilities*
* *Collaborate with stakeholders:* A forward player who can manage client engagement throughout project delivery, gathering and translating business requirements into technical, actionable data solutions.
* *Design & Build Pipelines:* Develop and maintain end-to-end ETL/ELT data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Notebooks, Dataflows Gen2).
* *Medallion Architecture Implementation:* Build, optimize, and maintain architectures using Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) patterns.
* *Data Modelling:* Create high-quality semantic models, star schemas, and data models optimized for Power BI and analytical reporting.
* *Data Transformation:* Utilize PySpark, Spark SQL, and T-SQL for complex data cleansing, transformation, and processing of large-scale datasets.
* *Data Visualisation:* Build dynamic, interactive reports and dashboards at strategic, analytical, and operational levels with Power BI utilising advanced DAX expressions to bring end user requirements to life.
* *Performance Optimization:* Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune Fabric workloads (pipelines, SQL endpoints) to improve performance and cost-efficiency.
* *Governance & Security:* Implement data quality, validation, security, and governance best practices, including row-level security and workspace management.
* *Training Delivery:* technical hands on workshop training courses for external clients.
*Required Skills & Qualifications*
* *Experience with Microsoft Fabric:* Proven hands-on experience with Fabric workloads, including Lakehouse, Data Factory, and Notebooks.
* *Technical Proficiency:* Strong expertise in Python/PySpark, SQL, DAX, and Spark SQL.
* *Cloud Data Engineering:* Solid understanding of Azure data services (ADF, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Synapse, Azure SQL Database, Keyvault).
* *Modelling Knowledge:* Strong understanding of Kimball dimensional modelling and data Lakehouse concepts.
* *DevOps Mindset:* Experience with Git for version control and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps/GitHub).
* *Education/Certifications:* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or equivalent experience. Microsoft Fabric (DP-700/DP-600) certification is highly preferred.
*Nice to Have*
* Knowledge of Data Governance tools like Microsoft Purview.
* Familiarity with streaming technologies (Kafka, Event Hubs).
* Experience in migrating legacy SQL systems to Microsoft Fabric.
* Databricks experience

Pay: £55,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
