Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Engagement Coordinator to enhance the quality of life for residents in our senior care community. This role involves planning and executing engaging activities tailored to residents' needs, promoting social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or long-term care, with a strong background in engaging residents with recreational therapy, dementia care, and working with seniors or individuals with disabilities. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in residents' daily lives through creative programming and personalized engagement.
Responsibilities
- Develop, organize, schedule and facilitate a variety of recreational activities that cater to residents' interests and abilities, including memory care and dementia-specific programs.
- Coordinate with staff and family members to assess individual needs and preferences, ensuring activities promote socialization, cognitive function, and emotional health.
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed during activities to encourage participation and independence.
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure a balanced calendar of events that accommodates residents' routines and special occasions.
- Provide companionship and support during activities, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment.
- Monitor residents' responses to activities, documenting participation levels and feedback for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with caregiving staff to integrate therapeutic recreation into overall care plans.
- Counsel residents on aging issues when appropriate, offering emotional support and guidance.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols during all activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience in event planning within assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care settings.
- Background in recreational therapy, senior care, dementia or Alzheimer's care, memory care, or working with people with disabilities is highly preferred.
- Strong communication skills necessary for engaging residents effectively and collaborating with team members.
- Knowledge of assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and schedule management.
- Experience in caregiving or home & community care is advantageous.
- Ability to handle aging issues counseling sensitively and professionally.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations including seniors with cognitive impairments or physical disabilities.
- Compassionate attitude with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously. This role is vital in fostering a vibrant community atmosphere where residents feel valued, engaged, and supported through meaningful recreational experiences.
Pay: $ $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
