We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Commercial Foreman to lead McNeil Company's field labor on commercial construction projects. This role is critical to daily field operations and serves as the front-line leader responsible for productivity, quality, safety, and coordination between trade partners, project management, and internal labor teams. The Commercial Foreman sets the tone on-site—modeling craftsmanship, accountability, and professionalism.
Responsibilities
Project Coordination
- Assist the project superintendent in executing work in accordance with construction documents, specifications, and schedules
- Proactively identify conflicts, constructability concerns, and field issues before they impact schedule or budget
- Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure proper sequencing, access, and readiness for work
- Assist with inspections, quality control reviews, and punch list completion
- Track labor productivity and material usage
Field Leadership & Execution
- Lead, schedule, and direct McNeil Company construction worker on commercial job sites
- Serve as the on-site leader for self-performed work, ensuring tasks are executed efficiently and correctly
- Mentor and develop labor team members, promoting craftsmanship, safety, and accountability
- Coordinate daily work plans and sequencing with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site
Communication & Documentation
- Communicate daily progress, manpower needs, and challenges to the Superintendent and project team
- Document daily activities, photos, and notes using project management tools (Procore, Dropbox, Bluebeam)
- Participate in jobsite meetings and coordination efforts
- Foster positive working relationships with subcontractors, inspectors, owners, and internal staff
Safety & Quality Control
- Enforce McNeil Company safety standards and OSHA compliance at all times
- Lead by example in jobsite safety practices and expectations
- Ensure self-performed work meets McNeil quality standards before turnover to the next trade
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in commercial construction, with prior experience as a foreman or lead role.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage field labor
- Solid understanding of commercial construction methods, sequencing, and trade coordination
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and shop drawings
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Organized, proactive, and detail-oriented mindset
- Comfortable using construction technology and mobile apps (Procore experience a plus)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
