Duties
- Supervise and support maintenance engineers and technicians, assigning daily tasks and monitoring productivity and performance.
- Coordinate and execute preventive maintenance programs for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life-safety systems.
- Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and operational issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to identify repair and safety needs.
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing building systems and equipment as needed.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and hotel brand requirements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and inventory records.
- Assist the Director of Engineering with vendor coordination, contractor oversight, and minor capital projects.
- Monitor inventory levels of tools, parts, and supplies; request replenishment as needed.
- Support emergency response procedures, including after-hours call-outs and crisis situations.
- Promote a culture of professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Engineering team.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the maintenance team, ensuring efficient execution of all repair and maintenance tasks
- Oversee the operation, inspection, and troubleshooting of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems to maintain optimal climate control
- Manage electrical systems including low voltage and high voltage equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and schematics
- Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to schedule preventive maintenance, track work orders, and manage inventory
- Oversee industrial maintenance activities involving programmable logic controllers (PLCs), schematics interpretation, and electrical troubleshooting using tools like ohmmeters
- Lead facilities management initiatives to ensure building safety, security, and compliance with regulations
- Coordinate projects related to system upgrades or repairs, ensuring timely completion within scope and budget constraints
- Conduct regular inspections of mechanical systems, electrical wiring, low voltage systems, and high voltage equipment to prevent failures
- Develop training programs for staff on safety procedures, equipment operation, and maintenance best practices
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and safety compliance
Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or trade school training preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of hotel maintenance or engineering experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong working knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations.
