Position SummaryThe Conveyor Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities for the 5.2 km overland conveyor system transporting ROM coal from the pit to the coal processing plant at the Quintette Mine. This role supports safe, reliable, and efficient conveyor performance by ensuring maintenance work is properly scoped, resourced, and aligned with production priorities.
Key Areas of ResponsibilityMaintenance Planning & Scheduling
Develop and maintain maintenance plans and schedules for the overland conveyor system and associated equipment.
Plan preventive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities to minimize unplanned downtime and support production targets.
Prepare detailed maintenance scopes, including task lists, labour requirements, tools, materials, safety considerations, and timelines.
Maintain a prioritized maintenance backlog based on equipment criticality, operational risk, and production impact.
Coordinate maintenance schedules with the Conveyor Superintendent, Conveyor Supervisors, and Processing Plant teams to ensure efficient execution of work.
Resource & Materials Coordination
Ensure maintenance activities are properly resourced with the required labour, tools, and materials.
Coordinate with warehouse, procurement, and plant maintenance teams to ensure timely availability of required parts.
Support planning for shutdowns and outages by confirming material readiness and resource availability across conveyor and plant interfaces.
Contribute to cost control and budget adherence through effective planning and material management.
Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
Track maintenance activities, equipment history, and work completion to support accurate reporting and analysis.
Analyze conveyor performance, failure trends, and maintenance effectiveness to identify reliability improvement opportunities.
Provide recommendations to improve maintenance strategies, reduce downtime, and extend asset life.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and efficiency of conveyor systems.
Ensure maintenance planning practices align with site safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Red Seal Millwright or other relevant journeyperson trade certification, or a technical diploma/degree; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years' experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or execution within mining or heavy industrial operations.
- Demonstrated experience with conveyor systems or bulk material handling equipment.
- Proven ability to support site management and contribute to operational planning, scheduling, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, policies, and best practices within a mining environment, particularly as they relate to conveyor and materials handling systems.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to coordinate effectively with operations, maintenance, and supply chain teams.
- Solid understanding of conveyor systems, components, and maintenance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret maintenance data and support reliability-focused decisions.
- High attention to detail in maintenance planning, work scope development, scheduling, and documentation.
- Effective time and priority management in a dynamic operational environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn site-based maintenance and reporting systems.
- Continuous improvement mindset focused on safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Conuma Resources offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The Conveyor Maintenance Planner position provides an annual base salary of $115,000 – $130,000, depending on experience, along with monthly efficiency bonuses, quarterly retention bonuses, and a performance-based bonus.
Benefits include paid vacation and personal days, 7% RRSP matching, and 100% employer-paid extended health and dental coverage.
