As a leader in electrical safety in North America leveraging our industry leading product portfolio and strong technical reputation, we need to add to an Industrial Engineer at our manufacturing facility in Mississauga.
Responsibility
The primary responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Improve all aspects of the manufacturing process through utilization of lean methodologies such as 5S, SMED, Value Stream Mapping and Waste Reduction.
Utilizing time studies or predetermined time methodologies (MOST or MODAPTS) reduce the time needed to manufacture repeatable products and ensure line balancing and flexibility.
Be a key player in eliminating variability / errors through Kaizen events, PDCA and effective root cause analysis and CAPA plans.
Be a key player in the effective application of the Quality Management System (QMS) in improving all business processes that could affect customer satisfaction.
Application of lean methodologies in non-manufacturing processes.
Functions
The daily functions of this position include but are not limited to:
Application of 5S methodology to improve organization, consistency and safety.
Utilizing time studies and line balancing techniques to increase production flexibility and capacity creating mix-model manufacturing capability.
Support the implementation of pull manufacturing for all products including customized to order resistor assemblies and pre-designed protection relays.
Creation of standard operating procedures (visual, video or written) for the manufacture of all products and to be used as training guidelines.
Lead LEAN initiatives such as Kaizen events / Value Stream Mapping to improve quality, eliminate waste, improve consistency and safety.
Work with product development to ensure all new products including Design for Assembly (DFA).
Work with engineering and quality on identifying root causes related to rework, RMA or CAR and ensure effective corrective and preventative action.
Performance Measurements:
The overall mission for I-Gard is to continually grow. All performance is measured essentially against fulfillment of this mission. With respect to this specific position, the contribution to be measured is as follows:
Reduction in total cycle time of protection relays and power resistors.
Improvement in work flow and consistency as measured by a reduction in rework levels.
Improved on-time delivery performance and reduction in CAR / RMA levels.
The Industrial Engineer will report to the Director of Operations.
Role Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering from an accredited university.
Six Sigma Black Yellow Belt certification completed, Green Belt would be advantageous.
Minimum 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
Compensation:
The base salary for this position is $70k - $85k and comes with matching RRSP as well as standard medical and dental benefits.
