Chartered Civil Engineer
to provide technical leadership and lead our
Birmingham-based civil engineering team . This role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys being a
technical authority and subject matter expert , while also mentoring and developing engineers within a collaborative design environment. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, sustainable

As a
Principal Civil Design Engineer / Engineering Manager , you will: Act as the civil engineering subject matter expert across multiple projects Lead and review complex designs, calculations, reports, and specifications Provide technical assurance and problem-solving support to project teams Be the first point of contact for civil engineering technical queries Support the development and application of standards, tools, and best practice Mentor and develop graduate, junior, and apprentice engineers Contribute to design reviews, risk management, and value engineering Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients Support cost, programme, and quality objectives through sound technical decision-making What We’re Looking For
Essential: Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) or equivalent experience, working towards chartership Proven experience delivering outline and detailed design in the water or wastewater sector Experience coordinating multidisciplinary and remote resources Strong technical judgement and clear, pragmatic communication A passion for mentoring and developing engineers Desirable: Experience across infra and non-infra water projects Familiarity with UK water industry design standards and assurance processes Experience coordinating overseas resources Involvement in technical communities or innovation initiatives Make Your Next Career Move Count
