Senior Chiller Technician

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Chiller Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration, and mechanical maintenance, with a focus on ammonia refrigeration and chiller equipment. This role involves performing complex service, repair, and maintenance tasks on large-scale cooling systems, ensuring optimal operation and compliance with safety standards. The Senior Chiller Technician will also provide technical guidance to junior team members and collaborate with project teams to support construction and property maintenance initiatives.

Duties

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair chiller systems, HVAC units, refrigeration equipment, and related mechanical components using schematics and technical manuals
• Perform preventive maintenance on chillers, boilers, air conditioning units, and other HVAC equipment to maximize efficiency and lifespan
• Conduct equipment repairs including welding, plumbing, electrical work, and component replacement
• Read and interpret schematics, HVAC design plans, and technical drawings to facilitate accurate repairs and installations
• Assist in the installation of new HVAC systems or upgrades in construction projects
• Utilize tools such as ohmmeters and other diagnostic instruments to assess system performance
• Maintain detailed service records and documentation of all repairs performed
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations related to ammonia refrigeration, HVAC/R systems, and property maintenance protocols
• Operate field service vehicles safely as a driver when traveling to client sites or project locations
• Support property maintenance tasks as needed, including appliance repair and general mechanical work

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a service technician specializing in HVAC/R systems, refrigeration (including ammonia refrigeration), or appliance repair
• Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment repair, welding, plumbing, and electrical troubleshooting
• Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design principles, and property maintenance procedures
• Construction experience is a plus for installation projects
• Knowledge of boiler operations and mechanic experience is desirable
• Ability to operate diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters effectively
• Field service experience working on large-scale industrial or commercial systems preferred
• Valid driver's license required for travel between job sites
• Certifications related to HVAC/R or refrigeration are highly advantageous
• Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and safety compliance
