long-term 12-month position
that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is
up to $45.81/hr + full benefits
(vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
Cullerton Group is seeking a highly skilled
Quality/Test Engineer
to join an engineering team supporting advanced safety and detection technology. The engineer will design, develop, and execute automated software tests for embedded electronic control systems used in machine safety applications. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, experience in test automation, and the ability to collaborate with global engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of software testing methodologies, embedded systems, and data management for complex machinery systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute automated test plans for embedded systems and safety detection applications
• Design and maintain test scripts using
Python
for automation and validation
• Review software requirements and translate them into detailed test cases and scenarios
• Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to ensure system integration and feature validation
• Troubleshoot and resolve feature test failures, providing root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Participate in Agile sprints, design reviews, and system integration efforts
• Support continuous improvement of software validation processes and tools
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in
Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering
, or a related field
• 5–7 years of professional experience in software test engineering or embedded system validation
• Strong hands-on experience with
Python
for test scripting and automation
• Solid understanding of
automated test design
and system-level feature testing
• Experience using
datalink test equipment
for software and hardware validation
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of
Functional Safety (FuSa)
and
Safety of the Intended Function (SOTIF)
principles
• Experience with
detect sensors
,
robotics
, or
autonomous systems
• Strong documentation and communication skills for concise and effective test reporting
• Familiarity with
Agile development environments
and global engineering collaboration
• Exposure to software development using
C++
and embedded Linux systems
