Company Overview:

For over twenty years, Atmospheric G2 has provided our customers market-leading weather intelligence software that enables them to confidently assess the impacts of weather on their markets. Our flagship product is up on monitors throughout the trading day across the majority of trade floors in North America and Europe. AG2 is at the forefront of utilizing cutting-edge ML technologies in the context of forecasting renewable power generation and energy demand (load). Our mission is to harness the power of data to drive innovation in the renewable energy sector.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Scientist to join our growing Data Science Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python ML model development, preferably in the context of renewable power generation and energy demand (load) forecasting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced machine learning models to predict renewable energy generation and support demand forecasting.
  • Analyze large-scale datasets spanning meteorological conditions, energy generation, and consumption patterns to improve forecast accuracy and reliability.
  • Partner cross-functionally with data science, engineering, product, and weather science teams to integrate meteorological signals into production forecasting systems.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve model performance over time, incorporating new data, evolving industry trends, and business needs.
  • Interrogate and validate model behavior through performance diagnostics, error analysis, and bias checks to drive measurable improvements.
  • Communicate results through clear visualizations and actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience developing machine learning models, ideally in renewable energy, power markets, weather-driven forecasting, or related domains.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, including experience with TensorFlow and PyTorch, and large-scale geospatial/time-series datasets using xarray.
  • Experience building scalable, reliable data science workflows with large datasets.
  • Strong understanding of ML best practices across the model lifecycle (data preparation, training, evaluation, deployment), with an emphasis on reproducibility and documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a structured approach to debugging and improvement.
  • Ability to communicate complex results clearly using data visualization and analysis tools.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • A supportive work environment where you can thrive both as a leader and a contributor.
  • A forward-thinking environment that values innovation and creativity, allowing you to bring new ideas to the table and see them implemented.
  • Flexible remote or hybrid work options, supporting a healthy balance between professional responsibilities and personal life.
  • Well-established company with a start-up mindset, where everyone can contribute ideas, take ownership, and make a meaningful impact on the mission.
