Barista

Job Summary
The owner is seeking a trained barista to help grow the Wren Coffee bar Currently inside of the South Broad Mercantile in Downtown Norwich, this barista position offers opportunities for growth. At the moment, the coffee bar is open on the weekends. It is expected that a new hire will have availability to cover a minimum of one weekend shift per weekend.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, bagels, and specialty drinks with precision
• Greet customers warmly, taking their orders accurately and efficiently using Wren's POS
• Handle cash transactions, process payments, and give correct change while maintaining accurate cash handling records
• Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards in food preparation areas and customer spaces
• Preparing and closing the coffee bar during each shift (including washing tools and equipment, and cleaning the espresso machine and grinders)
• Support the team by restocking supplies, cleaning workstations, and adhering to food safety protocols

Position Details

• Prior experience as a Barista or in food service is preferred; a passion for coffee is a plus
• Familiarity with POS systems to process transactions smoothly is preferred
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse guests
• Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during peak hours
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically active duties in a fast-paced environment
• New hire will be required to get a Food Handler's License
