MARKETING ASSOCIATE (PART-TIME / CONTRACT)

is hiring a marketing assistant/associate to join our team. This is a part-time, contract position for a creative, detail- oriented marketer interested in the publishing industry. This role will work independently to plan and implement their own client-facing campaigns for 3-4 non-fiction and fiction publications per season, with the goal of creating awareness, developing influencer relationships, and ultimately driving book sales for our clients and publishing partners, with the support of our Senior Marketing Director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Independently plan and run marketing campaigns for assigned clients/projects, with support of the Founder, Senior Marketing Director, and Campaign Managers
- Communicate campaigns and efforts with clients and stakeholders, including authors, in-house publishing teams, and literary agents
- Write and create materials for marketing campaigns, including pitch letters, social media graphics, email newsletters, PowerPoint decks, etc.
- Research and update influencer, organization, and other contact mailing lists, including maintaining updated and organized CRM (customer relationship management) records
- Develop relationships with influencers, publishing trade and media contacts, third-party organizations/businesses, and skilled freelancers/contractors to create promotional opportunities for our clients and authors
- Creative direct advertising and social media campaigns for clients, including creating messaging and working with designers to design creative assets
- Create audience insights, social listening, SEO, and metadata reports for campaigns and projects, with support and training from the Founder and Senior Marketing Director
WHO YOU ARE:
- A book marketer with 2+ years of publishing experience
- A lifelong learner looking to expand their knowledge base of marketing, social media, and other creative skill sets
- A team player with excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines simultaneously
- Passionate about books, marketing, digital content, and/or social media
- Highly organized with great attention to detail, spelling, grammar, etc.
- Comfortable taking ownership of your work
- Reliable, responsive, and efficient
- Strong knowledge of social media (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest) and management platforms (Hootsuite, Sprout, Later, etc.) is a plus, but not required
- Familiarity with marketing software and tools, including CRM, CMS, analytics, and social listening (Hubspot, Salesforce, Squarespace, Wordpress, Meltwater, Brandwatch, Mailchimp, etc.) is a plus, but not required
- Design skills (Canva, Photoshop, CapCut, Edits, etc.) are a plus, but not required
COMPENSATION:
- $25–$40/hour
, commensurate with experience and scope
