Job Summary

The Physical Therapy Aide supports the physical therapy team by preparing patients and equipment for treatment, ensuring safe mobility assistance, and maintaining a clean, organized therapy environment. This position is essential to creating a positive patient experience and supporting the delivery of excellent rehabilitative care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist physical therapists and physical therapist assistants during therapy sessions as directed.
  • Prepare patients and treatment areas before therapy begins.
  • Set up, clean, and store therapy equipment and supplies safely.
  • Observe and report patient performance and response to treatment to the supervising therapist.
  • Safely transport or assist patients with ambulation within inpatient and outpatient treatment areas.
  • Ensure patient safety through proper use of lifts, safety belts, and body mechanics.
  • Measure and adjust assistive devices such as crutches, walkers, or canes for proper patient fit.
  • Maintain department cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate patient schedules and documentation.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and staff.
  • Demonstrate professional phone etiquette and provide accurate messaging when needed.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

Preferred:

  • Prior patient care or rehabilitation experience
  • Participation in continuing education or in-service training programs

Compensation & Schedule

  • Status: Non-Exempt
  • Schedule: Full-time; shift and hours may vary based on departmental needs
  • Reports To: Director of Rehabilitation Services
  • Pay Range: Competitive and based on experience
