Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) supports and advances critical systems and services across multiple technology domains. This role is ideal for a hands-on technologist who enjoys solving complex problems, building secure and scalable solutions, and supporting mission-critical systems that impact large numbers of users.

The ITS I performs a wide variety of technical tasks under general direction, often working within broadly defined guidelines that require creativity, sound judgment, and innovative problem-solving. The scope of work typically spans multiple program areas and supports long-term organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support secure, scalable IT systems across client services, security, software, and systems engineering
  • Provide technical consultation, research, and feasibility analysis for IT initiatives
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot infrastructure, applications, and cloud environments
  • Support information security operations, incident response, compliance, and risk analysis
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and security training
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and deliver technology solutions
  • Monitor projects, system performance, and service metrics; provide root-cause analysis
  • Lead or guide lower-level technical staff as needed

Desirable Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience securing AWS environments (IAM, KMS, GuardDuty, Security Hub, CloudTrail, WAF, Config, etc.)
  • Strong Identity and Access Management experience, including least-privilege, SSO, MFA, and federation
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (NIST 800-53, CIS, FedRAMP, PCI, CJIS)
  • Automation and scripting skills using Python, PowerShell, or Bash
  • Solid understanding of network and application security (VPCs, subnets, firewalls, VPNs, WAF, zero-trust)
  • Experience with centralized logging and SIEM integrations (Splunk, Elastic, Sentinel, QRadar)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document and explain technical concepts
