Overview

RVW Wealth is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a long-standing client for an experienced Controller to join a family-owned real estate management company based in Culver City, California. The firm oversees the management of a privately held real estate portfolio and operates with a hands-on, ownership-driven culture. The management office consists of approximately a dozen employees. This role represents a key leadership position responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, strengthening financial controls and reporting, and serving as a close financial partner to ownership. This position is fully on-site in Culver City and is best suited for a practical, detail-oriented financial leader with deep real estate experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the accounting function within a lean management office environment
• Establish, maintain, and enhance robust internal control systems and accounting policies
• Oversee cash flow management and liquidity planning across the portfolio
• Assist in the development of annual operating budgets and monitor performance
• Manage timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes
• Perform final review and approval of all payables
• Oversee accounting systems and processes; experience with Yardi is a plus but not required
• Collaborate closely with ownership, property operations, and external CPAs
• Perform additional duties as needed to support the financial and operational objectives of the organization

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
• Strong real estate accounting background is required; property management experience strongly preferred
• Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience, including at least 4 years in a Controller or comparable leadership role
• Experience working in closely held or family-owned real estate environments is a plus
• Proficiency with Excel and general ledger systems; Yardi experience is a plus but not a requirement Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to operate independently while partnering closely with ownership

Compensation

• Base salary range: $160,000 – $190,000,
  with flexibility to exceed $190,000 for an exceptional candidate aligned with market conditions
• Competitive overall compensation package commensurate with experience
