Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, this position performs facilities cleaning and disinfecting, maintain routine records, ensure safe work practices, performs light grounds keeping services as needed, responds to emergency situations, and provides assistance on special projects or assignments as needed.

The incumbent works in partnership with other employees, departments/divisions, agencies and the public in delivering effective and innovative services.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
A. Provides custodial services. Empties trash containers, prepares recyclables, cleans bathrooms, breakrooms, offices and public spaces including, but not limited to: dusting, wet/dry mopping floors and stairs, clean spills and spot clean fabric chairs. Washes windows, doors, etc.
B. Strips, cleans, buffs and applies floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets.
C. Completes work orders assigned by Facilities Management Director or Facilities Supervisor.
D. Performs light grounds keeping services as needed. Performs cleaning and related activities such as removing debris from sidewalks.
E. Responds to emergency situations in Facilities as needed. Contacts proper service personnel if needed.
F. Ensure safe work practices in handling and applying applicable cleaning chemicals. Maintains inventories of necessary supplies and equipment.
G. Assists with the setup and tear down of facilities/grounds for meetings, conference, events, etc.
H. Observes prescribed health and safety precautions in the performance of all tasks, utilizes appropriate protective clothing, materials and equipment in the maintenance of safe and sanitary conditions within all facilities. Assists with ADA accessibility. Responsible for keeping buildings in compliance with OSHA laws.
I. Assist with special projects or assignments.
Additional Functions:
A. The incumbent is responsible for effectively managing his or her workload to achieve departmental goals. Assures that responsibilities are performed in compliance with federal and state regulations and county policies and procedures.
B. Participates in professional staff development. Participates in training and education opportunities to maintain and improve proficiency.
C. Performs other related functions as apparent or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to work both in a team environment and independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to listen, comprehend, and effectively communicate information both written and orally to all individuals.
- Ability to use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or verbal instructions.

- Ability to operate the assigned equipment in the prescribed manner.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
A. High school diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
A. Experience performing custodial services
B. Experience providing grounds keeping services
Conditions of Employment
A. Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive in the state of Minnesota.
B. Ability to travel in your daily work assignment.
C. Must successfully complete a background check.
D. Must comply with organizational and departmental policies.
E. Performs physical/mental demands of the work environment requirements for this position.
F. Must successfully achieve the core competencies and required knowledge skills and abilities for the position.
G. Adherence to data practices policies and standards concerning non-public information is mandatory. Access to non-public data must be restricted solely to the necessary information required to fulfill employment responsibilities. While accessing the data, individuals must take reasonable precautions to prevent unauthorized access by those without a legitimate work-related purpose. Upon completion of the work-related necessity for accessing the data, proper storage in accordance with county policies and Minnesota Statutes is mandatory.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Physical/Mental Demands:
Requires moderate physical effort working regularly with lightweight materials and occasionally with heavy weight materials (over 60 pounds) or occasional requirements for continuing periods in difficult work positions.
Employee must work continuously under high attention to detail and deadlines.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions, may be slightly dirty or involve occasional exposure to some disagreeable elements (dust, heat, fumes, cold, noise, vibration or wetness) and accidents are improbable other than minor injuries such as abrasions, cuts or bruises; health hazards negligible (or) some mental effort and stress involved resulting in inconvenience and frustration.
Hours of Work:
The position is part-time (0.8 FTE). The typical work hours for this position will be 6:00 am to 1:30 pm (Monday through Thursday) and 6:00 am to 10:00 am on Friday however not to exceed an average of 64 hours per pay period (biweekly). Additional hours may be required as assigned or apparent.
Pay: $ $26.34 per hour
Expected hours: 32.0 per week
