The Patient Services Specialist is responsible for providing excellent customer service to patients while managing front desk operations. This role ensures a smooth patient experience by greeting patients, managing appointments, processing patient information, handling insurance verification, collecting payments, and assisting with day-to-day administrative duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Greet patients with a warm, welcoming smile and assist with the check-in process upon arrival.
Verify and update patient demographics, including personal information, contact details, and insurance coverage. This includes scanning all pertinent documents into the EMR for billing purposes.
Ensure all necessary forms are completed by patients, including new patient registration form, consent to treat form, financial policy, Patient's Rights, HIPAA forms, and insurance verifications.
Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments as necessary, ensuring efficient use of provider time.
Answer phone calls in a professional and courteous manner, directing inquiries to appropriate staff members.
Verify insurance eligibility through (IE) electronic systems and notify patients of co-pays or outstanding balances.
Process patient payments, including co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances, ensure accurate logging of payments and end of day reporting.
Assist patient billing inquiries and help with resolving any billing issues.
Assist with organizing patient flow, ensuring that patients are checked in and out of the clinic in a timely and efficient manner.
Maintain the front desk area, ensuring it is organized and well-stocked with necessary materials and supplies.
Provide general administrative support, including filing faxes, scanning, and data entry in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Ensure all patient records and documents are appropriately scanned and uploaded to the EMR system.
Manage and distribute patient messages, including prescription requests, appointment reminders, and other inquiries.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
Assist in maintaining a clean and welcoming clinic environment.
REQUIREMENTS
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in healthcare administration, customer service, medical receptionist or appointment scheduling.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on customer service and a friendly demeanor.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with scheduling software eClinical preferred.
LOCATION: Glendale Arizona
TYPE: Full-Time, one-half day Saturday a month Mandatory
- Starts at $18 to $23 per hour, DOE
