Daycare Driver

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Daycare Driver to ensure the safe, reliable, and timely transportation of children to and from our daycare facility. In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating a variety of commercial vehicles designed for passenger transport, including shuttle buses and school buses, while maintaining a high standard of safety and customer service. Duties

• Safely operate designated vehicles such as shuttle buses, school buses, or other commercial passenger vehicles to transport children between home, school, and daycare sites.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of vehicles, checking mechanical systems, safety features, brakes, lights, and tires to ensure optimal operation.
• Follow designated routes accurately while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations; adjust routes as needed for weather or traffic conditions.
• Assist children in boarding and exiting vehicles safely, ensuring proper use of safety restraints and supervising behavior during transit.
• Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of the vehicle; report any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.
• Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and emergency personnel when necessary; provide updates on transportation schedules or delays.
• Keep detailed records of trips, mileage logs, vehicle inspections, and any incidents that occur during transit.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating commercial vehicles such as school buses or shuttle vans preferred.
• Proven experience in driving passenger vehicles with a focus on safety and customer service; delivery driver experience is a plus.
• Mechanical knowledge sufficient to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot minor issues; familiarity with manual transmissions is advantageous.
• Ability to operate various commercial vehicles including buses, box trucks, or heavy equipment like forklifts or dump trucks if required.
• Strong communication skills to interact professionally with children, parents, staff, and emergency responders.
• Knowledge of traffic laws related to school bus or passenger vehicle operation; familiarity with route driving and heavy haul operations is beneficial.
• Physical ability to assist children during boarding/exiting vehicles and perform routine vehicle checks; warehouse or yard jockey experience is helpful but not mandatory.
