Skilled Maintenance

Role:
This position will be responsible for the general maintenance and repair of the plumbing needs of the college. Will assist with all general maintenance as assigned by the director.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
• Installs, maintains, and repairs all toilets, sinks, drains, urinals, valves, faucets, and any other equipment related to the plumbing field.
• Repairs water line breaks and leaks. Performs sewer maintenance.
• Assists with Hydronic HVAC repairs
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
1. To have a good working knowledge of basic plumbing skills including the usage of trade-specific equipment and machinery.
2. To work together in a team effort in regards to special tasks or events.
3. To have a basic knowledge and understanding of all trades and equipment in order to perform assigned duties and to ensure that any maintenance staff member on call can handle emergencies occurring during off duty hours.

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Six months to two years of similar or related experience.
Education: A high school education, GED or related trade school required.
Interpersonal Skills: Work normally involves contacts with persons beyond immediate associates generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (students, visitors or vendors) requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.
Other Skills: Two year's plumbing experience is required; general maintenance experience is desired. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are necessary. Working special events as requested.
Physical Requirements: The work requires considerable physical exertion and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Must be able to walk and/or stand for long periods of time, and climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl Work Environment: Must be able to work in all weather conditions and withstand extreme hot and cold working conditions, loud noise environments. Position also requires work in high, precarious places, exposure to noxious odors, loud noises, and electrical shock.
