POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant will play a key role in supporting our healthcare providers by ensuring seamless patient care, assisting with medical procedures, and maintaining a welcoming and efficient clinical environment. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma required, Bachelor's degree in applicable field preferred.
Experience: Experience working in substance use is preferred but not required. Two years of experience in a private practice setting preferred.
Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through an accredited program preferred.
Additional Requirements: A thorough knowledge of The Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, DHS, State Regulations, and Federal Regulatory Standards. Complete TB testing, Drug Screening, and a Background check upon being hired.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient Care & Clinical Support:
- Greet and prepare patients for appointments, taking vital signs and medical histories.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing as needed.
- Process patient inquiries, provide basic education, and facilitate communication between patients and providers.
- Facilitate medication refills under the supervision of a provider.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments and manage electronic health records (EHR).
- Process insurance verification, prior authorizations, and referrals as required.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient documentation.
- Coordinate referrals and follow-ups as needed.
Clinic Operations & Compliance:
- Ensure exam rooms and medical equipment are properly stocked and sanitized.
- Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff training sessions.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and clinic policies.

- Ability to reach above and below the waist, turn, twist, and manipulate small tools (copier, computer, telephone, typewriter, calculator, safe, facsimile machine).
- Ability to see well enough to read handwritten and typewritten material.
- Ability to handle a variety of repetitive tasks at a moderate level.
- Regular patient interaction, including potential exposure to emotional or behavioral distress.
- This role operates primarily within an outpatient clinical setting. Some travel may be required for networking events, training, and community outreach.
