Manager on Duty

Overview: Support Front End, Management Team, and Operations Manager in ensuring smooth daily store operations, with a focus on store conditioning, cleanliness, safety and security.

Status: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt $ $25.00 / hour

Schedule: Morning shift primarily 7:30AM – 4:00PM, with flexibility for evenings and days of the week.

Supervisor: Front End Manager

Responsibilities:

Service Support:

  • Demonstrate and encourage customer service as first priority: model 10/4 rule, lead with kindness, and set standard of excellent service to all internal and external customers.

  • Provide Front End support, working at Service Desk and cashiering whenever assistance is needed.

  • Support all sales floor departments: check in with each department at start of shift, assist any department experiencing staffing issues, stock supplies storewide as needed.

  • Ensure that department conditions are maintained. The Manager on Duty is empowered to address and request specific work be done by other departments and/or may assist a department operationally as business needs dictate (i.e. stock shelves, run register, etc.).

  • Direct employees on the sales floor as needed and provide any performance coaching necessary; e-mail communication of any coaching instances to Department Manager and Operations Manager.

  • Complete a daily report of support provided and issues addressed at the end of each shift, to be sent to Department Managers and Operations Manager.

Safety Lead:

  • Ensure the safety of the staff, Member Owners and customers by making decisions to address unsafe behaviors that are physically dangerous, such as abusive verbal outbursts or attacks, or any behavior that is disruptive or inappropriate by anyone on HWFC property.

  • Lead responses and training for emergency procedures, for example power outages, refrigeration malfunctions, dangerous weather, and emergency evacuations. The Manager on Duty will consult with the Operations Manager when the situation permits but is also empowered to make decisions when needed.

  • Serve as point person for loss prevention and work with security team to deter shoplifting. The above declarations are not intended to be an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of the job described, nor are they intended to be such a listing of the skills and abilities required to do the job. Instead, they are designed only to describe the general nature of the job.

  • Address shoplifters, panhandlers, and disorderly, incapacitated or intoxicated customers by following safety protocols. Consult with Operations Manager when time permits.

  • Ensure the highest cleanliness standards throughout the entire store per established SOPs; assist Housekeeping department as needed with cleaning projects and daily maintenance.

  • Ensure store opens/closes at scheduled times following store SOPs. When securing the store at the end of each night, ensures that no one is left in the building and all doors are secured before exiting the building.

  • Ensure entire store is conditioned, maintaining standard of excellence for "How does the store look?" at all times.

  • Take the lead on any injuries, accidents or medical emergencies in the store and complete appropriate paperwork as required.

  • Identify and remedy any observed safety issues during shift; communicate with Operations Manager if follow-up is required.

  • Report all issues and incidents to the Management Team as needed.

  • Participate in Safety Committee as schedule allows for reporting on trends and assisting with staff training roll outs.

  • Obtain/maintain current certifications/trainings for De-escalation, Retail Safety, Active Shooter, On Property Emergency Response, First Aid/CPR/Bloodborne Pathogens, Narcan, Fire Safety, and others as dictated by current needs of business (all trainings will be provided).
