Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic 2nd Shift Shift Leader/Supervisor to oversee daily production operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, previous manufacturing experience and management experience in a manufacturing environment. This role involves supervising and motivating staff, ensuring production safety and process standards, managing inventory, and managing machine downtime to maintain operational excellence during the 2nd shift operations.
Responsibilities
- Supervision of the 2nd shift production team (~15-18 employees) including new employee development, mentoring and coaching and providing employee performance feedback on a regular basis.
- Manage staff effectively to eliminate downtime & missed loading spots. This includes balancing staffing requirements by rotating and assigning people where needed. Evaluate needs throughout the shift and make necessary adjustments to meet production goals.
- Checking the use of process cards, log sheets, routing forms, proper signing off, etc.
- Continuous communication with Production Control Supervisor, Quality Control, Shipping & Receiving in regards to enough parts, enough racks, and ongoing production needs while constantly monitoring the production flow.
- Perform proper training of new employees on the use of process cards, proper loading & unloading of parts, and quality control.
- Ensure there are at least 5 racks ahead for start of next shift.
- Monitor and follow-up on safety issues.
- Monitor daily attendance of employees and fill out attendance absent slips or vacation requests as necessary.
- Assist the Production Control supervisor in communicating with customers on daily production needs.
- Work with other departments including Maintenance, Quality, and Production Control to troubleshoot and implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
- Understands and supports DRM's Values.
Qualifications
- Must be personable, motivated, and a team worker.
- Able to work independently, act decisively, and have above average planning and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
