How you'll contribute

The Cook performs a variety of tasks that facilitate the provision of food service and nutritional support to patients, employees, and visitors. Responsibilities include:

  • Reviews menus to determine types and quantities of food needed
  • Coordinates timing of preparation in order to meet service schedule for patients, staff and visitors
  • Adheres to standardized recipes and portion control to prevent food waste and control food cost
  • Provides maintenance and sanitation of equipment in food production areas
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and requirements

Education:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Ability to be ServSafe Certified within 3 months of hire. Also, must recertify every 3 years.

Experience:

  • Two years' experience in food services hospital setting preferred
  • Knowledge of food sanitation and safety (HACCP ServSafe Certificate)
  • Knowledge of food quality through the use of established procedures and guidelines
