Job Summary

Performs maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, machine servicing, electrical, or vehicle servicing. Inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, rebuilds, constructs, and maintains woodwork and other related structures

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

  • Oversees and/or performs repairs and inspections of specialized equipment and/or services.
  • Monitors and maintains records of all inspections, repairs and/or services performed to equipment and facilities.
  • Completes work orders using automated maintenance program systems.
  • Reviews records and other related information on a continual basis for recurring problems.
  • Interfaces with UTHSCT departments and others to coordinate outages of equipment or services provided.
  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable codes, regulations and standards as required.
  • Maintains expertise in applicable existing and developing technology of equipment or services through training and related material.
  • Coordinates construction projects involving multiple trades.
  • Interprets codes to determine appropriate construction techniques and processes.
  • Works as part of construction team for in-house UTHSCT projects.
  • Works with technical and specific equipment as required.
  • Identifies and reports safety hazards.
  • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance without assistance on building systems such as plumbing, electrical and HVAC.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Four years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Relevant certification or license preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in the procedures of safety measures in area(s) of specialty.

  • Responsible for the execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs tasks in a way to assure a high quality of workmanship is maintained and is accountable for the results.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
