Over 30 years in the community, we now have 640 affordable apartments in six Eastside cities serving more than 1,400 individuals and families with low incomes each year. POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing the financial integrity of property accounting and supports the consolidation of property financial data to the corporate level. This role includes maintaining and reconciling general ledgers, preparing accurate journal entries, and ensuring timely financial reporting. The position supports budgeting and forecasting processes, monitors cash flow, and manages accounts payable and receivable functions. Additionally, the Staff Accountant ensures compliance with HUD, LIHTC, and other affordable housing program requirements, while providing audit support and maintaining strong internal controls. Success in this role requires collaboration with property managers, corporate finance teams, and external stakeholders to deliver accurate financial data and support organizational goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile property-level general ledgers; prepare monthly journal entries and ensure accuracy of financial data.
· Financial Reporting: Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties; assist with consolidated reporting for the organization.
· Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with property managers and finance leadership to prepare annual property budgets; monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
· Accounts Payable: Reviews and process property invoices and payments
· Accounts Receivable: Ensure timely collection of case management fees, asset management fees and other property level receivables
· Compliance & Audit Support: Ensure adherence to HUD, LIHTC, and other affordable housing program requirements; prepare schedules and documentation for annual audits and regulatory reviews.
