Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Referral Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing patient referrals, ensuring compliance with medical coding standards, and maintaining accurate medical records. This position requires a strong understanding of medical office procedures, including familiarity with ICD-10 coding and HIPAA regulations. The Referral Specialist will work closely with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to facilitate effective communication and coordination of care.

Responsibilities

• Manage incoming and outgoing patient referrals efficiently and accurately.
• Verify patient information and ensure all necessary documentation is complete.
• Utilize ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems for accurate record-keeping.
• Communicate with healthcare providers to coordinate appointments and follow-ups.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
• Assist in the management of medical records to ensure they are up-to-date and accessible.
• Collaborate with managed care organizations to facilitate the referral process.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, addressing inquiries related to referrals.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred.
• Knowledge of medical coding practices, particularly ICD-10 and ICD-9.
• Familiarity with managed care processes and insurance verification.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to handle sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in using office software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time
