Position Description
Primary Functions:
The Assistant Unit Director supports the Unit Director in the day-to-day operations and quality assurance of
Club programs at a designated school site. This position is responsible for ensuring high-quality program
delivery, assisting with staff supervision and training, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, and
supporting site-level operations that align with the mission and standards of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central
Orange Coast (the Club).
The Assistant Unit Director plays a key role in coaching frontline staff, supporting program planning and
implementation, and helping to drive programmatic outcomes in alignment with the Club's Impact Model. This
position serves as a leader on site when the Unit Director is offsite and is expected to lead by example, build
strong relationships with youth and families, and maintain consistent communication with the Club team and
school partners.

Key Roles:
Commitment to Safety
1. Contribute to environment of safety through the learning and implementation and monitoring of all safety-
related best practices, policies, and procedures.
2. Promote accountability to safety through consistent observation, adherence to all safety rules and practices
and proactive communication among members, parents, peers, and leadership.
3. Obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter training and complete annual Child Abuse Prevention training.
4. Complete training and participate in all Emergency Preparedness protocols including drills and
communication practices.

This position may require the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, or reach as needed, and to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs. Employees must have the dexterity, coordination, vision, and hearing necessary to perform job tasks safely and accurately.  

GREAT Leadership & Quality Assurance
• Support the Unit Director in maintaining a fun, healthy, and safe environment at all times.
• Ensure proper implementation of daily schedules, program activities, and the Club Learning
Experience.
• Help ensure compliance with ASES/ELOP attendance and programmatic standards.
• Assist with coaching, training, and mentoring frontline staff; lead daily check-ins and support ongoing
development.
• Participate in regular staff meetings and contribute to creating a collaborative, high-performing team
culture.
• Assist with tracking participation, documenting member attendance, and maintaining accurate records.
Program Planning
• Support planning and execution of program activities that align with the Impact Model and meet the
needs and interests of youth served.
• Assist in collecting data, member feedback, and anecdotal evidence to inform program quality and
improvement efforts.
• Monitor trends and help identify opportunities for enhancing the member experience.
Resource Management
• Help maintain inventory of program supplies and equipment.
• Assist with supply purchasing as directed and within budget parameters.
• Support the enforcement of administrative systems and policies related to the school site and Club
operations.
• Help manage staff schedules and monitor performance, providing input to the Unit Director as needed.
Partner Stewardship
• Build positive relationships with members, families, school staff, and community partners.
• Support school and community events that promote Club visibility and deepen partnerships.
• Represent the Club with professionalism and positivity in all interactions with families and
external stakeholders.
Marketing and Public Relations
• Help communicate key updates and celebrate member achievements through parent
engagement, newsletters, and informal check-ins.
• Contribute content and updates for school site communications, social media, or
marketing materials as requested.
• Encourage family and school participation in Club events and initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities
• Lead or assist with special events and cross-departmental programming as needed.
• Serve as the site lead in the Unit Director's absence.
• Provide mentorship and discipline in alignment with Club expectations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years of youth development experience or relevant education and leadership
experience.
• Previous experience supervising or mentoring staff preferred.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
• Ability to lead a team, manage multiple priorities, and respond calmly to dynamic situations.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with youth from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications including Office 365 (Sharepoint, Excel, Word) and/or
Google Workspace.
