About the Position
The Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH) seeks a cybersecurity analyst to serve in the information systems section of Administration. This position will work closely with the organization's Security Officer to manage day-to-day security operations that protect systems, networks, and data. It will focus on maintaining a secure environment through continuous monitoring, regular updates, proactive improvements, and hands-on technical work across the entire infrastructure. The role will manage firewall rules, apply patches and updates, monitor security tools, support vulnerability scans, and implement remediation steps. It will maintain secure configurations, respond to routine security issues, and ensure protective measures remain effective. Additionally, the position will deliver security awareness training, track user compliance, and guide staff in following required security practices. It will identify potential vulnerabilities, research solutions, and implement approved measures to strengthen the organization's defenses. The role will provide input on refining security policies and procedures and maintain operational security documentation. Overall, it will enhance the organization's security posture through consistent monitoring, maintenance, and proactive risk reduction.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5-8 + years of IT experience with emphasis in security and compliance. Agency preferred qualifications: Candidates should have hands-on experience in daily security operations, including log review, patch management, and vulnerability remediation, as well as familiarity with firewalls, endpoint protection, and security monitoring tools.
