POSITION SUMMARY:
Manager of Pharmacy Services is responsible for the daily management of the Pharmacy department, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing staff, and providing high quality patient care. The Manager of Pharmacy Services is responsible for coordinating pharmacy services with other departments to deliver quality care to patients and hospital staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manages the daily activities of pharmacy, ensuring efficient workflow and compliance with legal and safety standards.
- Supervises pharmacy staff, including hiring, training, scheduling and assisting in performance evaluations.
- Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations regarding pharmacy operations, including the safe storage of medications.
- Assists in the oversight of the pharmacy's budget, monitoring expenses and implementing strategies to enhance profitability.
- Ensures accurate oversight of dispensing medications and managing inventory to prevent shortages and overstock.
- Assists in the development and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and service delivery.
- Assists in Pharmacy policies and procedures and implements them in accordance with established policies of administration, medical staff, and applicable federal and state laws.
- Assists in developing policies and procedures for procurement, distribution, proper storage and dispensing of drugs, chemicals and pharmaceutical preparations in the hospital.
- Maintains an adequate drug supply and current drug formulary in accordance with medical staff recommendations and established bids.
- Coordinates and assists in pharmacy activities with other departments to maintain efficient, professional, services.
- Participates in drug use evaluation as directed by the medical staff.
- Perform duties of a staff pharmacist and other duties as assigned.
- Participates in administrative staff meetings and serves on other committees as necessary.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Frequent contacts with the administrative complement of the hospital as well as with physicians, nurses, patients, and other professional personnel.
- Participation in committees which require poise and the ability to communicate effectively is necessary.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises the Pharmacy Staff.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of five years of hospital experience is required. A minimum of one year of hospital experience as a supervisor is preferred.
Education and formal training required: Must be a graduate of an accredited college of Pharmacy.
- Must be licensed pharmacist in good standing with the state board of pharmacy.
- A Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree or equivalent is required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Must maintain current CPR certification.
- Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of California.

Newborn Infant/Pediatric Adolescent Adult Geriatric All No Patient Care
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Occasional prolonged standing or walking. Lifting of supplies and equipment is occasionally necessary. See attached.
