Key Responsibilities
Project Financial Management- Track project budgets, costs, and commitments to ensure profitability
- Monitor labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and equipment charges
- Prepare and analyze WIP and percent-completion reports
- Maintain and manage accurate general ledger activity in QuickBooks and construction accounting systems; ensure integrity of Balance Sheet and P&L reporting.
- Manage accounts receivable, customer payments, and past-due follow-up
- Maintain vendor and subcontractor records and support billing-related customer inquiries
- Support ongoing financial operations for active and completed projects/properties, including construction loans
- Prepare monthly progress billings (AIA, cost-plus, or lump sum)
- Manage retainage, stored materials, and lien waivers for projects
- Track subcontractor invoices, commitments, and payments; ensure contract compliance
- Create monthly project reports highlighting cost, revenue, and margin risks
- Support revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP, including percent-completion/WIP accounting
- Assist with project closeout and final cost reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financials
- Maintain documentation for contracts and project files; support internal and external audits
- Act as a financial partner to Project Managers and Operations teams
- Communicate clearly regarding budget status, billing issues, and project risks
- Participate in project review meetings as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction
- Understanding of job cost accounting and WIP reporting
- Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, Procore Financials, CMiC, or similar)
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience with AIA billing and percentage-of-completion accounting
- Knowledge of GAAP and construction revenue recognition
- CPA or CMA a plus, but not required
- Analyze project costs, budgets, and profitability
- Manage multiple construction projects and deadlines
- Comfortable with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Procore) and Excel/Sheets
