The Applications Engineer/Product Specialist responds to inquiries from the organizations sales force or customers about the technical aspects of the organizations products and services. Leads technical training on product selection, performance and troubleshooting; reviews engineering specifications and generates proposals; develops skills and knowledge of the organizations products and services. Education
Bachelors degree in engineering, or equivalent relevant education and work experience. Experience 2+ years of experience with an engineering degree (Applications Engineer) 5+ years of technical product experience without an engineering degree (Product Specialist) Relevant industry experience (pumps, valves, system design, rotating equipment, etc.) desired
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Able to quickly learn products in detail, including operating principles and performance characteristics. Ability to professionally interact with customers on technical matters. Ability to select a pump and/or accessories based on application requirements. Ability to analyze a mechanical system and provide technical guidance for operation and troubleshooting. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Highly organized and efficient in approaching tasks. A self?starter with the ability to solve problems and anticipate and avoid issues. Clear, concise, and articulate communication skillsverbal, written and listening. Strong team player, work ethic and commitment to win.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide guidance to sales team and channel partners for selection, configuration and quotation of products. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for channel partners and end users. Conduct technical training of internal team members, channel partners and industry participants such as EPCs, consultants and end users. Provide technical support in marketing activities, including creation of market literature, preparation for trade shows, industry events and PSG product training and customer events. Conduct market research through trade associations, internet investigation and corporate services. Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of competitive products and market activity; provide regular reports. Investigate market needs for innovative products and communicate opportunities to Product Management. Follow all company processes and policies pertaining to the role. Other duties as assigned.
Travel
Limited travel required. Physical Requirements
The work is predominantly sedentary and requires minimal or negligible physical exertion. The employee is normally seated; however, periods of standing or walking are possible. Strength to lift or carry files weighing up to ten (10) pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; ability to hear and speak to communicate in person, telephone or via Teams. Work Environment
The environment is primarily in a controlled climate office setting but also includes time on the manufacturing floor. The manufacturing environment may involve moderate temperature changes and exposure to noise, flying debris and overhead hazards requiring proper PPE. Work Arrangement
Hybrid arrangement after the first 90 days. Pay Range
$85,000.00 - $100,000.00 annually. Bonus Eligibility
This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan. Benefits
